According to Pan Pacific Petroleum, which owns a share in the block, the semi-submersible drilling rig the “Ocean General” spudded the 07/03-CD-1X exploration well on 28th January.

The well is being drilled in a water depth of about 130m, with a planned total measured depth of approximately 3,817m BRT (below rotary table). As at 0600 hours on 29th January the well was at 227 m BRT.

The 07/03-CD-1X well will evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Silver Sillago prospect (see below), a tilted fault trap targeting Miocene clastic reservoirs similar to those encountered in the successful Cá Rồng Đỏ (CRD) structure located about 55km to the east in Block 07/03. The well will be plugged and abandoned after the evaluation has been completed.
