Helicopter Crashes Into Sea Offshore Shetland. Four Dead

An oil rig helicopter carrying 18 workers crashed Friday night into the North Sea, about two nautical miles west of Sumburgh, on Shetland Island in the U.K.  Four passengers died and 14 others were rescued.

Socar Fighting to Suppress Fire Burning from Caspian Sea Well

Azerbaijan’s national oil company Socar has informed that a fire broke out on one of its Caspian Sea wells on Saturday night. The incident took place during drilling operations at the No 90 exploration well at Bulla Deniz field.

 

Transocean Secures $2.5 Bln in Drilling Contracts

Transocean, one of the world’s largest offshore drilling contractors by fleet size, has revealed it has secured new drilling contracts worth approximately $2.5 billion. The company, in its latest fleet status report, announced that it has, since July 17, 2013, received drilling contracts for five of its rigs.

COSL Orders Two More Offshore Drilling Rigs (China)

After China Oilfield Services Limited, better known as COSL, earlier this week announced it bought two under-construction jack-up rigs, it seems that the company is expanding its rig fleet some more.

 

Woodside Wants Three FLNG Facilities at Browse

Australian oil and gas giant Woodside, which on Monday recommended the Browse Joint Venture to develop the Browse gas fields offshore Australia using Shell’s FLNG technology, on Wednesday revealed it was considering not one, but three such units for the project.
