Turkey Does Not Plan to Reduce Gas Supplies from Iran, Minister Says

Turkey does not plan to reduce imports of natural gas from Iran, Turkey’s Energy Minister, Taner Yildiz announced.

“Turkey does not plan to reduce gas supplies from Iran, as the EU sanctions against Iran will not cover existing contracts,” Yildiz said.

Iran and Turkey signed a 25 year agreement to supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey annually, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

It’s worth mentioning that, Turkey imports gas via pipeline from Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies under contract with Algeria and Nigeria.
