Turkey, Pakistan Want More Gas from Iran

Turkey and Pakistan have asked for more gas imports from Iran, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji announced.

Addressing a conference on development of efficient and renewable energy technologies, he said that Turkey which currently imports 30 million cubic meters of gas a day, has asked Iran for an additional 4 to 5 million cubic meters of gas daily.

He went on to say that, Pakistani energy minister has also asked for further gas imports from Iran, which will increase Iran’s gas export to Pakistan from the current 23 million to 30 million cubic meters on a daily basis.

Owji noted that Iran is capable of supplying the demanded gas as it plans to increase its gas production by 1.5 times by the end of the next year, which will therefore increase the country’s production capacity by 150 million cubic meters.
