Turkey to Continue to Buy Gas from Iran

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that Turkey will continue to buy natural gas from Iran.

According to Yildiz, one fifth of Turkey’s needs in natural gas is met through imports from Iran, therefore, Western sanctions against Iran will not affect gas import from this country, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Turkey takes more than 90 percent of Iran’s gas exports.

Iran and Turkey have signed a 25 years contract under which Iran delivers 10 billion cubic meters of gas a year to the neighboring country.
