Corps to Invite Bids for Chincoteague Inlet Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, plans to invite bidders for the Chincoteague Inlet dredging project.

During this program, the contractor will need to remove critical shoals from the channels and restore previously authorized navigable depth and to provide safe access for shallow draft vessels transiting the Chincoteague Inlet.

The dredging will involve removal of approximately 34,350 cubic yards of material from the mentioned areas, and all dredged material should be placed at the designated overboard placement stretches at Ocean Bar and Lewis Creek Placement Sites.

The portions of the Chincoteague Inlet Federal navigation channels were last dredged in 2012.
