USA: Swinomish Channel Dredging Starts Next Month

The dredging project on the Swinomish Channel is scheduled to begin in mid-September.

According to threesheetsnw.com, the 11-mile channel, which runs from Skagit Bay in the south to Padilla Bay, is in desperate need of dredging.

The shallowest area, at the south end near Goat Island, is expected to be dredged first.

The work must be done during a “fish window,” a time of year when dredging and other in-water work can be done without harming aquatic life.
