Vattenfall Building Accommodation Platform (Gallery)

Vattenfall, the Swedish energy company, has used knowledge from oil and gas industry regarding work shift schedule on its renewable energy project.

Namely, the company is building world’s largest accommodation platform dedicated to an offshore wind farm.

Standing on a 40-meter tall jacket foundation, the platform will be able to accommodate up to 50 people 70 kilometers west of the island Sylt.

The staff will have access to a reading room, sick bay, pharmacy, and different leisure activities.

“Even if this won’t be the very first accommodation platform, this is definitely a new concept for running maintenance work on offshore wind farms, that stem from the oil and gas industry,” said Vattenfall spokesperson Lutz Wiese.

The platform will house DanTysk personnel, as well as Sandbank workers due to its proximity.

The Vattenfall accommodation platform was initially scheduled for completion in fall 2014. However, the timetable is now moved to summer 2015.
