WGMN finishes Valemon hook-up

Wood Group Mustang Norway (WGMN), together with Statoil, has completed hook-up of the Valemon platform in the North Sea on schedule.

Valemon, located on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS), is the second Statoil-operated platform to be put into production in the last nine months.

WGMN teamed with the Korean engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), to provide detailed engineering support for the topsides, in addition to delivery of the flare boom and providing hook-up and commissioning assistance.

“The Valemon platform is the first to be delivered directly from a fabricator in Asia to installation offshore on the NCS and is a credit to the Statoil, SHI and WGMN teams that collaborated so well together,” explained Otto Søberg, president of WGMN.

“Safe, efficient hook-up was critical to bringing the platform on-line successfully and the more than 1,000 people involved in the hook-up process accomplished that with zero lost-time incidents.”
