The woman, a UK national, was found in the morning hours of August 19 after spending ten hours in the water.

Following reports of the missing cruise ship passenger, the Croatian Coast Guard immediately launched a search and rescue operation, deploying ships and an airplane.

The person was spotted some 60 nautical miles off the Croatian coast, 1,300 meters from the location where the incident occurred.

“We are pleased to advise that the guest was found alive, is currently in stable condition, and has been taken ashore in Croatia for further treatment,” a spokesperson of Norwegian Cruise Line, operator of the cruise ship, told World Maritime News.

No further details have been provided on how the passenger fell overboard.

The cruise ship, which can carry more than 2,200 passengers, was en route to Venice, Italy, at the time of the incident.
