Yemen LNG Celebrates Award of Diplomas to First Batch of Graduate Engineers

Yemen LNG celebrated in Sana’a the award of LNG Diplomas to a first batch of graduate engineers who have successfully completed a Diploma of Petroleum Studies, Major in Liquefied Natural Gas, at the Yemen LNG School of Technology in Balhaf, Shabwa.

Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil and Minerals, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the ceremony was attended by Alain Beulcer, Deputy Head of the French Mission in Yemen.

Twelve engineers were awarded their Diplomas from the French-based prestigious Institute Français du Pétrole (IFP) for their successful completion of a 40-week intensive training. This is a post-graduate training program and by far the first of its kind to be introduced in Yemen and the region through Yemen LNG School of Technology.

In his remarks, General Manager of Yemen LNG, Jacques Azibert, congratulated the graduates and their families for this outstanding accomplishment. “The LNG Diploma is well worth pursuing,” Azibert noted. “I am, indeed, happy to see Yemeni youth tapping into creativity, and into success in their home country and taking advantage of the experience the School’s experts share. They have made an important leap into the oil and gas industry through this unique diploma program. The Yemen LNG project was first constructed by Yemeni youths and the Plant’s operation was started by young Yemeni trainees and will ultimately be operated by Yemenis.

The LNG Diploma Program includes alternating academic courses, on job training and internship, together offering an internationally recognized diploma. The program was commenced in September 2012, and graduates were selected on a competitive basis by IFP School among 600 candidates from all regions of Yemen. The graduates will be able to apply for junior engineering positions within and outside Yemen among international operators in gas and oil processing plants.
