LEEVAC's Jennings Shipyard Modernization Plan Moves Forward

LEEVAC Shipyards LLC receives DOT/MARAD endorsement for the Jennings facility to move forward with plans to modernize the Jennings Shipyard.

We are very pleased with the announcement from Transportaion Secretary Ray LaHood that LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings LA was one of fifteen yards selected ” said Chris Vaccari President and CEO.

MARAD received 141 grant applications requesting $123 million in assistance. The grants fund a variety of projects, including infrastructure improvements and modernizing equipment to increase the efficiency, competitive operations, and quality construction of vessels in U.S. shipyards.

LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings, LLC is a Gulf Coast shipyard in south Louisiana and is situated on a180-acre site on the west bank of the Mermentau River, about five miles east of Jennings, Louisiana. The shipyard, located just off of old Highway 90, is easily accessible by truck, barge and rail. At LEEVAC the river is 350 feet wide and 60 feet deep.
