Keel Laid for Another Vessel of Project RSD49 at Nevsky Shipyard

Last week, Oct 31, Nevsky Shipyard LLC held the keel-laying ceremony for the eighth, in the series of 10,  dry-cargo «river-sea» type vessels of project RSD49 (Yard Number 408). The vessels, developed by Marine Engineering Bureau-Design-SPb, JSC, are being built for the North-Western Shipping Company, JSC.

The vessels of Project RSD49 refer to «Volgo-Don Max» class. It means that vessels displacement meet the requirements for dimensions of Volga-Don Shipping Canal. Vessels of the series can be used for transportation of general and bulk cargoes including grain, timber, coil, large-dimension and heavy-weight cargoes and hazardous cargoes of classes 1, 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 of IMDG Code and the Appendix B of the BC Code in the Caspian Sea as well as in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, White Sea, North Sea, including routes around Europe and on the Irish Sea in winter.

Capacity of cargo holds – 10920 m3

Deadweight in river (draft 3.6 m) – about 4520 t,

Deadweight at sea (draft 4.7 m) – about 7150 t

Service speed – 11,5 knots

Vessel class: КМ Ice2R2AUT1-C Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The feature of the vessel of project RSD49 is the existence of a big middle hold in fifty two meters long, which makes it possible to transport “design” oversize and heavy-lift cargoes in one way voyage Europe-Caspian Sea. It should have a significant affect on the cumulative finance result.

The endurance at sea is 20 days.

Ship crew – 10 people, places – 12. A sanitary cabin and a cabin for pilot are provided onboard.
