M/B ALAM PESONA Undergoes Overhaul at CIC-Changxing

CIC-Changxing shipyard successfully completed the repair of bulk carrier M/B ALAM PESONA on July 8th, 2013. The 229- meter long and 36.5-meter wide M/B ALAM PESONA arrived to the shipyard on June 30.

Her main repair activities included overhaul of two windlasses, renewal of the brake lining, hydraulic motor overhaul along with the renewal of 170 pcs of steam condenser copper pipes etc.

The time schedule for the repair work was very tight. After the ship was in port, the project department arranged for all the supervisors and workshop workers to conduct project inspection, which was immediately followed by determining of windlass repair solution.

Having received the green light from the owner, the project proceeded with the discharge of the anchor chain, removal of the mooring line and placement on bollard.  Demolition of 2 windlasses ensued that were dismounted, cleaned and measured on the following day.

Further examination resulted in conclusion that the windlass shaft roller bearing position was too big and that it needed re-welding.  Brass bush also needed to be renewed.

Finally, despite continuous high temperatures, due to hard work and proper planing, the repair schedule was met and refit was completed on time.
