Alu Marine Shipyard Begins Construction on Double-Ended Ferry

The Alu Marine shipyard is currently starting the construction of a new passenger boat for Rotterdam, Netherlands, for which they won the contract after a European tender. This double-ended ferry will transport passengers in Dordrecht, Netherlands, between the two banks of the «Vieille Meuse» and the lower reach of the Merwede.

The vessel has the capacity of 200 passengers and 80 bicycles. She will complement the existing fleet of the Waterbus network, modern passenger ships service between Dordrecht and Rotterdam operated by BV Aquabus.

The construction of the boat is currenly starting in the Alu Marine shipyard for delivery in summer 2012. The world premiere presentation of the project with a scaled model of the future ship, will take place during the Europort Fair in Rotterdam between the 8 and 11 November 2011.
