Norway: Wintershall Gets OK for Drilling with Borgland Dolphin

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has given its approval to Wintershall to carry out exploration drilling of well 33/6-4 with the Borgland Dolphin rig. 

Well 33/6-4 belongs to production licence 370 in the northern part of the North Sea, adjacent to the median line with the UK.. Water depth at the site is 328 metres.

The drilling operation will start in mid-May at the earliest and has an estimated duration of 46 days.

Borgland Dolphin (photo) is operated by Dolphin Drilling. The facility is registered in Singapore with Det Norske Veritas as the classification society. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977 and underwent extensive upgrades in 1999.
