Tenders Invited for Balticconnector Seabed Surveys

Baltic Connector Oy in cooperation with Elering AS has invited tenders for the provision of seabed surveys for Balticconnector offshore pipeline.

The Balticconnector project is a gas infrastructure project aiming to interconnect the Finnish and Estonian gas networks.

The contract, worth EUR 3 million (approx. USD 4 million), covers geophysical and geotechnical seabed surveys for the design and construction of Balticconnector.

As Baltic Connector Oy explained, the objective of the survey is to provide detailed information about the seabed including hardness of outcropping bedrock, type of soil, grain size distribution, relative density, undrained shear strength etc.

According to the agreement between the companies, Baltic Connector Oy will be responsible for scheduling, design and overall management of the procurement procedure. However, the services are to be provided to both Baltic Connector Oy and Elering AS.

The survey period for geophysical and geotechnical services is planned to start mid-September 2016 and last approximately to the end of December 2016. Reporting is expected be completed by the end of January 2017.

However, the companies can propose to execute an amending survey period for geotechnical surveys in the spring and summer of 2017 if necessary, it is stated in the tender notice.

If additional works are required, the contracting authority may decide to continue the term of the contract.

The deadline for the submission of tenders is August 15, 2016, Baltic Connector Oy noted.
