Chrysaor picks APT for Lomond, Armada analyses

North Sea oil and gas operator Chrysaor has contracted Applied Petroleum Technology (APT) to deliver geochemical and petroleum systems analyses on the Armada hub facility and around the Greater Lomond area on the UKCS.

APT said on Tuesday that it was engaged
by Chrysaor to carry out a range of studies in producing and exploration
assets.

At the Armada Hub facility, a scoping
and feasibility study for the use of geochemical production allocation is already
underway.

On the same asset, APT is conducting a
geochemical analysis of a recently drilled well where a potentially new
reservoir system is under evaluation.

It is also carrying out integrated
petroleum system analysis and basin modelling to support Chrysaor’s assessment
of the exploration potential in the Central North Sea.

Julian Moore, head of APT’s UK operation, said: “We work with Chrysaor to apply geochemical methods and technology in a focused way to provide insight to the subsurface to directly assist evaluations and decision making at a relatively low cost.

“Currently the work we are involved with spans from exploration to appraisal to development, demonstrating the wide range of problems geochemical technologies can be applied to”.

According to the firm, APT’s UK
operation will manage the project. Geochemical analyses will be conducted out
of the company’s specialised laboratory in Conwy, Wales.

It is worth noting that neither
company disclosed the contract value of the projects.

The Armada hub, 100 per cent owned by Chrysaor, is located in Block 22/5b of the UK North Sea, 244 kilometres east of Aberdeen. It consists of the Drake, Hawkins, and Fleming gas and condensate fields.

SW and NW Seymour, and Maria fields in
the UK sector and the Rev and Gaupe fields – third-party fields – in the
Norwegian sector are tied back to Armada.

Gas is exported via the CATS pipeline to Teesside, while the produced liquids from Armada go via the Forties Pipeline System to the Kinneil processing plant at Grangemouth.

Lomond is a combined wellhead, production, and quarters platform, located in Block 23/21a of the UK Central North Sea. Chrysaor also fully owns this asset.

It lies approximately 268 kilometres
east of Aberdeen and processes gas and condensate from the Lomond and Erskine
fields.

Production from Lomond is exported via
a 57.8-kilometre gas and condensate export pipeline to the CATS Riser platform
at North Everest from where it is exported to the Forties Pipeline System
(condensate) and the CATS Terminal at Teesside (gas).
