PGRT, Gitanyow First Nation sign project agreement

TransCanada’s Prince Rupert Gas Transmission unit said it has confirmed a project agreement with the Gitanyow First Nation of northern British Columbia.

As TransCanada informed in a statement, the agreement provides the Gitanyow First Nation with benefits related to the PRGT pipeline project, and confirms Gitanyow First Nation support for the project.

Pipeline project agreements are part of a comprehensive approach to working with First Nations on liquefied natural gas opportunities, including developing skills training and involving First Nations in developing business opportunities.

PRGT is proposing to design, build, own and operate a 900 km natural gas pipeline to deliver natural gas from a point near Hudson’s Hope to the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG facility at Lelu Island, off the coast of Port Edward, near Prince Rupert.
