LNG exports Iran’s best ticket for market entry

Iran, the country holding one of the world’s largest gas reservoirs, is studying a host of schemes for presence in the international and European gas markets in addition to exporting it to neighboring countries.

“It is economical to export gas to the neighboring countries. Following the nuclear agreement, it is possible to export gas to Europe through Turkey too,” Hamidreza Araqi, deputy petroleum minister for gas affairs said in a statement.

“There are also experts who suggest that to enter distant global markets, it is better to export gas in LNG because it will become more economical,” he added.

According to Araqi who is also managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Iran can export gas through Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan too.
