Japan: power utilities use less LNG in November

LNG use by Japan’s ten independent regional electric power companies dropped 9 percent in November when compared to the same month in 2014.

The companies consumed 4.28 million mt of liquefied natural gas in November, preliminary data from the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC) reveals.

October purchases by the ten utilities were at 4.17 million mt of LNG, down 8.3 percent from 2014.

According to FEPC, total electricity generated and purchased across the ten companies in November declined by 3.8% from a year to 66.82 billion kWh.
