PGNiG: natural gas production in Pakistan doubles

Polish Oil and Gas Company kicked off production from Rizq deposit in Pakistan, where the company’s gas production has exceeded 0.5 mcm per day. 

According to PGNiG, over 300,000 cubic meters of gas per day are being extracted through Rizq-1 well in Pakistan, doubling the company’s production. The Rizq deposit is estimated to hold 4.5 bcm of natural gas in place.

It was the third well drilled by PGNiG in Pakistan that is increasing the volumes of LNG imports as it looks to reduce its gas deficit, and help reduce the power outages.

PGNiG is also producing gas at the Rehman deposit, where it started testing at the completed Rehman-2 well and began drilling of the Rehman-3. It will be the fourth well at the Rehman deposit where the company looks to up the production levels.

Drilling and then fracking as well as testing of Rehman-3 is scheduled to take about five months, PGNiG said.

The company is aiming to optimize production abilities and its infrastructure to carry on exploration and production operations and increase gas transmission to a contractor, a national gas firm in Pakistan.
