Woodfibre LNG contracted KBR to carry out pre-notice to proceed services for the Woodfibre liquefied natural gas (LNG) project located in the District of Squamish near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The selection of KBR for Pre-NTP services follows the successful completion of a front-end engineering design (FEED) process for the Woodfibre LNG project, agreed in October of 2016, the Houston-based LNG engineer KBR said.

Pre-NTP services will be carried out by KBR’s operating centers in Houston, USA, and Edmonton, Canada.

The services include additional FEED work and cost optimization as well as a proposal for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

Woodfibre LNG expects to commence the EPC phase of the project in 2018.

The C$1.6 billion ($1.26 billion) Woodfibre LNG export project includes the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas export facility on the previous Woodfibre Pulp Mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 cubic meters and has been approved to export 2.1 million tons per year for a 40-year term.
