TechnipFMC bags Tortue Ahmeyim FPSO deal

LNG engineer TechnipFMC has been awarded a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit contract by BP for its Tortue Ahmeyim development on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.

The award for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the FPSO is a continuation to the FEED (front end engineering design) contract awarded in April 2018, TechnipFMC said.

The initial subsea infrastructure connects the first four wells consolidated through production pipelines leading to this FPSO. From here liquids are removed and the export gas is transported via a pipeline to the LNG hub terminal where the gas is liquefied.

BP has already contracted Golar LNG for the supply of the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit for the project. The FLNG facility is designed to provide circa 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum on average, with the total gas resources in the field estimated to be around 15 trillion cubic feet.

BP and its partner Kosmos Energy have sanctioned the development of the project in December last year.

Project execution activities are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2019, with first gas expected in 2022.

BP Gas Marketing has been selected as the sole buyer for the investor partners’ LNG offtake for Tortue Phase 1.
