SHI Signs USD 2.7 Billion Offshore Facility Deal

Samsung Heavy Industries, a South Korean shipbuilder, said in a statement today it has signed a $2.73 billion deal with INPEX to build an offshore gas processing facility in Australia.

Under the deal with INPEX, SHI will build the offshore gas processing facility by the end of 2015, the company said.

Work on the 100,000-tonne facility will begin in 2013 and the structure will have 110 metres (361 feet) both in height and width when delivered.

The facility will be deployed in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia to serve the USD 34 billion Ichthys LNG project.
