India: Kochi LNG to Start by Year-End

Kochi LNG to Start by Year-End

Petronet’s Kochi LNG terminal in India is likely to be commissioned by Nov-Dec this year, Economic Times reported, citing the company’s CEO A K Balyan.

Completion of the Kochi LNG terminal is on track and satisfactory. We hope by November-December we should be looking at commissioning of the terminal. Very elaborate safety requirements have to be taken,” he said.

He said the company had started the terminal with 2.5 mtpa capacity and midway it was decided to raise it by another 2.5 mtpa.

There are very strict safety requirements and both have to be commissioned simultaneously,” he added.

The terminal at Kochi will help in meeting enormous demand of natural gas for Power, Fertilizers, Petrochemicals and various other industries in the Southern States.

Petronet will also supply LNG through road tankers to consumers.
