Shell Plans to End Philippines LNG Terminal Study Next Year

PILIPINAS Shell Petroleum Corp. is planning to finish the feasibility study for its planned LNG import terminal within the next year’s second quarter, according to Business Mirror.

At the sidelines of the Third Philippine Energy Efficiency Forum, Edgar Chua, country chairman of Shell companies in the Philippines said: “We’re trying to finish the study as soon as possible. But realistically, it’s going to be sometime next year and to be safe maybe it’s going to be done by the second quarter of next year”.

Chua pointed out that Shell considers sourcing LNG from various possible locations. “Shell, fortunately, has a lot of possible sources. We have several sources in Australia, Qatar, the Middle East and Shell is also involved in a gas export facility project in Canada”.

Also, Shell is considering involvement in the government’s plans for BatMan-1 natural gas pipeline.

Planned building of the LNG import terminal is expected to be finished before BatMan-1. “Even without the pipeline, we’re looking at a few markets that include [enterprise customers]”, Chua added.
