Philippines to Build BatMan-1 Pipeline on Its Own

The government of the Philippines will build the Batangas-to-Manila [BatMan-1] pipeline on its own, according to Business Mirror.

At the sidelines of the Platts Forum on Oil, Coal and LNG, Energy Undersecretary Jose Layug Jr. told reporters: “We prefer the Philippine National Oil Co. [PNOC] to take the lead and to own and operate the Batangas-to-Manila [BatMan-1] pipeline.

“We want the government to own the pipeline to ensure lower costs for consumers and for more people to be allowed to tap [to] it”, he added.

Estimated value of the project is around $2.1 billion and would cover the entire value chain from the receiving terminal, the pipeline and the power plants.
