The Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan is keen to go ahead with the proposed gas pipeline project with Iran in order to overcome its energy crisis.

He also said that Pakistan is facing a serious energy crisis and we want to end it as soon as possible, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

The Prime Minister termed the agreement between the two countries on construction of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline as a “leap forward”.

Consul General of Iran in Peshawar Hassan Darvishvand said that work on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project should be expedited as it would be beneficial for Pakistan to overcome gas and power outages along with unemployment in the country.

According to him, bilateral trade would be helpful in boosting the economy of both the countries.
