IP Gas Pipeline to Be Completed by 2014

Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline will be completed at all costs by the end of 2014, Iranian Consul General in Peshawar Hassan Darvishvand said.

Darvishvand said 110 million cubic feet of gas will be available to Pakistan per day under the project which would solve much of the electricity shortage and gas problems of the energy starved country, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

“780 kilometers of pipeline will be laid within Pakistan and construction work began a month ago,” he said.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr Asim Hussain earlier said that the project would also help to increase industry production in Pakistan by meeting the energy demand.

He also added that the government had launched the gas project in national interest despite of International pressure.
