Gazprom Ukraine Needs to Boost Gas Inventories to 19 Bcm by Autumn-Winter

Gazprom’s CEO Alexey Miller and Yury Boiko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, met in Moscow to discuss natural gas injection into underground gas storage (UGS) facilities by Naftogaz Ukrainy.

It was noted that Ukrainian UGS facilities should store over 19 billion cubic meters of gas by the beginning of the autumn-winter period for the Ukrainian company to fulfill its commitments on uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to Europe, Gazpeom said in a statement.

The meeting also highlighted that the USD 1 billion advanced payment made by Gazprom for gas transit could be used for filling UGS facilities with natural gas. The decision to grant the payment had been taken on June 26, 2013.
