While shedding light on another oil discovery in Brazil, Petrobras explains that the presence of what is being described as excellent quality oil in the post-salt of the Campos Basin is located in an exploratory well in the Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block.

This asset was acquired in September 2018, during the 5th Production Sharing Round, with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as the manager. Petrobras is the operator of the block with 100% interest.

The well 4-BRSA-1403D-RJS is situated 108 kilometers from Campos dos Goytacazes-RJ city shore, at a water depth of 734 meters. The company claims that the drilling of the well has ended, with an oil-bearing interval confirmed through electrical logs, gas shows, and fluid sampling.

“These samples will subsequently be sent for laboratory analyses, which will enable the characterization of reservoir and fluid conditions found, allowing for the continuation of the area’s potential evaluation,” elaborated Petrobras.

The Brazilian giant recently disclosed a new production achievement, thanks to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO), owned by SBM Offshore, which reached an output milestone at a field in the pre-salt Santos Basin.
