FERC updates on Elba Island liquefaction project

FERC updates on Elba Island liquefaction project

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission released an update on the Elba Island liquefaction project stating that it is in the process of analyzing the data and preparing an environmental assessment of the project.

After we have all the information to complete our analysis, we will issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review identifying the date that the EA will be issued,” FERC said in the update.

Elba Liquefaction, Southern LNG (SLNG), and Elba Express plan to construct and operate facilities for exporting liquefied natural gas at SLNG‘s existing Elba Island terminal in Chatham County, Georgia.

Additionally, the companies are planning to abandon the LNG truck loading facilities at the Elba Island terminal.

FERC started its review of the project in March 2013, when it has approved the companies’ request to use the FERC pre-filing process. The pre-filing process ended when the companies formally filed applications for the project with the FERC on March 10 and March 21, 2014.
