Twelve finds but production falls

Drilling offshore Norway has netted a total of 12 new discoveries in the last three months after a total of 21 exploration wells and the sector has also seen three new development plans while production has fallen. Latest figures for the levels of activity offshore Norway show that a total of nine discoveries were made in the North Sea plus a further three in the Norwegian Sea, after a total of 21 exploration wells were drilled – nine more than the same period last year. A total of 29 development wells were also drilled, plus three lateral wells, compared with 31 development wells in the second quarter 2008, new figures from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate reveal.
