ADSB Delivers 3rd to the U.A.E. Navy

Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company (ADSB), the leading shipbuilder and naval support services provider in the Gulf region, delivered Corvette ‘Dhafra’ to the U.A.E. Navy on December 24th 2013, reports the Emirates News Agency WAM.

The vessel is third, out of six, Baynunah Class Corvettes for the U.A.E. Navy, and is the largest warship construction programme in the region.

The Baynunah Class, based on the CMN’s BR70 70m corvette design, was jointly developed by Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie and ADSB.

With the length of 72m, these highly-advanced ships are among the largest that use water jets for propulsion.

The Corvettes’ key features include a stealth-like superstructure, a helicopter landing deck and a hangar. The vessels are also fitted with anti-ship missiles, and air-defence missiles; 3D Surveillance, Navigation and Fire Control Radars and a Multivendor electronic warfare suite.
