AES Sparrows Point, Mid-Atlantic Express Scrap US LNG Import Project

AES Sparrows Point LNG and Mid-Atlantic Express have decided not to proceed with plans to build a pipeline to deliver natural gas to southeast Pennsylvania from a proposed LNG import terminal at Sparrows Point in Baltimore, Maryland.

The two companies said in a request that “the FERC vacate the Section 3 authorization and Section 7 certificate granted to AES in the December 17, 2009 order issued by the Commission in the captioned dockets pursuant to the Natural Gas Act.”

To date, no construction activities have been undertaken, and thus there are no facilities in service, they added.
