Afai Lays Keel of New 40m Ferry

A keel laying ceremony for new 40m ferry project (ASA040) was held at Afai Southern Shipyard on May 22, 2013. This is a brand new ship type jointly designed by Afai and its joint venture, i.e. CoCo Yachts Holland B.V..

The ferry, ordered by Shenzhen Pengxing Shipping Co.,Ltd., has the overall length of 40.0m, overall width of 9.3m, passenger capacity of 199 persons, adopts two waterjets propulsion, the line of superstructure is streamlined, beautiful and extremely fashionable.

This aluminum fast catamaran ferry is another new ship type of the shipyard and a breakthrough in the passenger transportation market in Pearl River Delta Region. In the aspect of designing and building high-speed ferries, Afai continuously keeps forging ahead with the new innovate solutions and the concept of green shipbuilding; the power consumption of this ship type will be 10% lower than the existing vessels under operation.

Afai will persist the high beginning, standard and quality and make this project to be the fantastic product of high-end ship type for passenger transportation, which will sail from Shenzhen to Hongkong and Macao.

The representatives of ship owner, CCS Guangzhou Branch and the leaders of Afai witnessed the ceremony; the representatives of three parties signed the progress certificate of shipbuilding milestone.
