Afai Lays Keels for Two Brazilian Sprinter Ferries

Afai Southern laid keels on February 26th for two sprinter ferries (hull numbers ASA042/ASA043), which are being built for Brazil.

Ms. Tatiana Vaz Carius, the Under-Secretary of State for Transport of the State of Rio the Janeiro, along with engineers visited Afai, and attended the keel laying ceremony. Ms. Tatiana Vaz Carius and her delegation were briefed by Afai’s General Manager, Mr. Wu Mingyi about the stages of the vessels under construction under the Brazilian project.

The seven urban sprinter ferries of the project will be used to transport passengers in the sheltered waters of the Bay of Guanabana, crossing the route between the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói.

After the keel laying ceremony, the Brazilian clients toured the vessels under construction at the yard.
