Angola LNG to Resume Production in 2015

The Angola LNG terminal is expected to resume production in mid-2015, after a rupture on a flare line forced it to shut down.

“Following investigation into the incident that took place at the plant in Soyo on 10 April 2014, Angola LNG will pull forward a planned shutdown to allow its contractor Bechtel to both correct items from the incident and – in parallel – address plant capacity issues,” Reuters reported, citing Angola LNG’s spokesman as saying.

It is expected that this work will continue into 2015, with the LNG terminal anticipated to restart in mid-2015, he added.

Angola LNG, a partnership between Sonangol, Chevron, BP, ENI and Total, has delivered its first cargo in July of 2013 to Petrobras’ regasification terminal in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro.

At full production, over 70 cargoes per year will leave the Angola LNG plant, supplying 5.2 million tons per year of LNG, plus propane, butane and condensate.
