Another Migrant Boat Sinks Off Libya, 200 Feared Dead

A boat carrying around 400 African migrants has reportedly sunk offshore Libya leaving around 200 people dead.

As Reuters reports, the Libyan coast guard rescued around 201 people, and others are believed to be trapped in the cargo hold when the boat sunk.

The authorities informed that the migrants were mainly from sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan, Syria, Morocco and Bangladesh.

The Italian coast guard is aiding the search and rescue operations offshore Libya where around 1,430 people were rescued on Thursday.

According to IMO, more than 2,300 people died this year trying to reach Europe, compared with 3,279 for the last year, Reuters wrote.
