Apache's 4th Marathon Well to Come on Stream Within a Month (USA)

Apache Corporation’s fourth development well on the Marathon gas/condensate field, located in the shallow waters of the Atchafalaya Bay along the Louisiana Gulf Coast, USA, which spud on 22 October 2012, has reached a total depth of 18,650 feet (5,686 metres).

Wireline logging has been concluded, and protective casing has been run in preparation for completing the well as a producer. The well was originally permitted with the option to drill to a total depth of 19,400 feet (5,915 metres), however all commercial objectives of the well have been met by reaching the current total depth and the decision was taken to terminate drilling.

The well is expected to be brought on stream by late January/early February 2013 through expanded pipeline and processing facilities completed during 2012.
