APPEA president resigns

The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association chief executive Malcolm Roberts filed in his resignation after three years at the helm.

APPEA’s board formally accepted the resignation on Wednesday, the association said in a statement.

Speaking of his time with APPEA, Roberts said it “coincided with an extremely challenging period for the industry.”

His successor, who was recruited to the role after an extensive search, will be named in the New Year and commence soon after, ensuring a smooth transition with Roberts, the association said.

APPEA is a national body representing Australia’s oil and gas exploration and production industry with about 60 full member companies.

These are oil and gas explorers and producers active in Australia accounting for an estimated 98 percent of the nation’s petroleum production.
