Argentinian backlogs have BP and Gas Natural looking for free vessels

Argentina’s financial woes have caused LNG tanker queues off the country’s coast that have major companies like BP and Gas Natural scrambling for free vessels to deliver cargoes from Trinidad and Tobago. 

Last week, Argentina’s Central Bank did not release the funds for imports which caused a backlog at the Bahia Blanca terminal, but according to Interfax, two tankers, British Ruby and Lobito have finally made their deliveries.

The situation at the Escobar regasification terminal is yet unclear as Polar Spirit and Iberica Knutsen, that were scheduled for arrival on 29 September and 2 October respectively, are still off the coast of Uruguay.

An industry source said that BP and Gas Natural are looking for tankers to load their cargo from Trinidad and Tobago as their vessels have not yet left Argentina.
