Asia Offshore Drilling Takes Delivery of New Jack-Up Rig

Asia Offshore Drilling Limited has taken delivery of the jack-up drilling rig “AOD II” from Singapore’s Keppel shipyard.

The ‘AOD II’ will now be mobilised to the Middle East to begin its drilling contract with Saudi Aramco. The contract, which is expected to start by end of June this year, has a minimum duration of three years plus a one-year option.

The potential revenues for the initial three year period are approximately USD 197 million plus a mobilisation fee of USD 34 million covering certain upgrades, mobilisation costs, and day rates during the mobilisation period.

Keppel was awarded a $2 million bonus for completing the rig 62 days early.
