Atkins Design for French Jackets

Atkins has been appointed to deliver the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design of wind turbine jacket substructures for the 496MW St Brieuc offshore wind farm.

Located off the coast of Northern France, the wind farm is being developed by Ailes Marines, a consortium of Iberdrola, Renewable Energy Systems (RES) and Caisse des Dépôts.

The scope of work for Atkins, part of the SNC-Lavalin Group, includes the design of 62 jackets for the Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines which are expected to be operational in 2023.

“This adds to our growing portfolio of offshore wind projects that provide clean energy and play a crucial part in Europe’s energy mix,” Andy Thompson, Atkins’ Director of Offshore Wind, said.

”It is important that as we work with an international supply chain, we advance the deployment of cost effective renewable energy technologies.”
