Australia: Sea Swift Attends QCLNG Expo

Sea Swift Attends QCLNG Expo

Sea Swift Gladstone Depot attended the Queensland Curtis LNG Expo at Central Queensland University last month.

The Expo was hosted by the Gladstone Engineering Alliance (GEA) and was aimed at bringing together current contractors on the QCLNG project, and other potentially interested businesses in the region.

Sea Swift Gladstone Operations Manager Don Downey said the day was a huge success, with 147 businesses attending from throughout the region and as far afield as Brisbane.

“It was a great opportunity for Sea Swift to fly the flag of shipping standards within the industry,” Mr Downey said.

The day had a very strong focus on safety within the industry, with Koolat hosting a safety pre-start breakfast where attendees form Sea Swift had the opportunity to hear from industry representatives from Bechtel, Koolat and QGC.

“We were given the facts on high risk licensing, harmonisation, and how to meet the safety standards required to operate as part of the project,” Mr Downey said.

“Breakfast was followed by a networking morning which included lectures by QGC, Bechtel, Case Study, ICN and the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI).

“This provided the opportunity to meet, greet and get informed about supply opportunities, as well as the supply chain process, standards and compliance requirements.

“The day ended with 15-minute speed dating style appointments between businesses. Overall, it was a great day with many learnings and new contacts.”
