Australia: Woodside’s Offshore Fields Still Shut

Australia Woodside's Offshore Fields Still Shut

Australia’s Woodside Petroleum today informed Bloomberg that production is still closed on six of its offshore fields in Western Australia which were shut last week because of the cyclone Iggy.

In an e-mail sent to Bloomberg, the company’s spokesperson said that “the Vincent and Enfield fields off North West Cape and Cossack, Wanaea, Lambert and Hermes on the North West Shelf remain closed”

Woodside started production shutting on Wednesday, January 25, in response to the tropical low threat.

According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, there are about thirteen cyclones that form in the Australian region each cyclone season. This represents about 16 per cent of the global total.

About half of these occur in the oil rich western region of the country.
