Awilco finds more work for WilPhoenix rig

Offshore driller Awilco Drilling has signed a letter of intent with an undisclosed operator for the provision of the WilPhoenix drilling rig.

The one-well program has an estimated duration of 115 days and will start in direct continuation from the rig’s current contract with Apache North Sea Limited in the second quarter of 2018, Awilco Drilling informed on Tuesday.

The rig is under the firm term contract with Apache in the North Sea until April 2018.

The driller also said that the contract value for the WilPhoenix rig was estimated at $13.8 million.

WilPhoenix is one of Awilco Drilling’s two enhanced pacesetter semi-submersibles. It was built in 1982 and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft. Awilco’s other semi-sub, WilHunter, is hot stacked in Invergordon since July 2015.
