BC First Nations to Hold LNG Summit in Fort St. John

The Treaty 8 Tribal Association will be hosting the next First Nations LNG Summit, which takes place in Fort St. John from February 17 to 19, 2014.

This latest summit builds on successful events in Prince Rupert and Prince George in 2013. It will take what was shared and learned in those sessions and use a series of site tours, talks and practical workshops to provide First Nations leaders and other interested parties with the information, knowledge and ideas needed to update communities and to make informed decisions.

WHO: Delegates will include First Nations leaders, provincial and federal government officials, and LNG proponents.

WHAT: A press conference will be held to discuss the outcomes of this summit as well as the plans First Nations have to move toward informed decision-making with their communities. Media interested in attending the whole event should contact organizers.

WHY: This summit is designed to build on the feedback and findings from previous 2013 summits in Prince Rupert and Prince George. The workshop-driven agenda aims to provide First Nations leaders with the ideas and tools they are looking for to help their communities make informed decisions on LNG.

WHERE: The Pomeroy Hotel is located at 11308 Alaska Road, Fort St. John, BC.
