The EC1 export cable and the OTM1 offshore transmission module at the Beatrice site will come under the control of the SSE Operational Safety Rules on 30 May, after which they will be energised, most likely on 1 June, according to the latest updates from the project’s Notice to Mariners.

Siemens Transmission and Distribution has been working on commissioning both Siemens offshore transmission modules (OTMs) for the last few months in preparation for the energisation of the system.

Siem Offshore Contractors, now owned by Subsea 7, has completed the third inter-array cable installation campaign, with the cable laying vessel Siem Aimery leaving the site and set to return to continue the works at a date yet to be confirmed.

The CSV Siem Barracuda is still at the Beatrice offshore wind farm, where it is carrying out personnel and equipment transfers to and from the foundations OTMs.

In mid-May, Nexans completed all export cable installation works at the Scottish offshore wind farm with its cable laying vessel Skaggerak.

So far, Seaway Heavy Lifting’s heavy-lift vessel Oleg Strashnov has installed 64 jacket foundations, with 22 more to go.

The first of the total of 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines is expected to come up this summer, and the entire 588MW offshore wind farm is scheduled to be put into operation in 2019.
